The Liberty Belles Chorus Leadership

The Liberty Belles Chorus thrives in part because of the commitment of the people in leadership. Here are a few of the people who offer their gifts to make our ensemble tick:

Our President

Meet Sarah Thorne-Miller. Sarah has been performing since age 4 and singing since age 8 in numerous school choirs and plays. After graduating from college where she was a member of University of Maryland’s all-female a cappella group, The Treblemakers, she spent a number of years looking for a singing group to join. To her delight and sanity, she found the Liberty Belles and joined them in early 2015. While this is her first experience with barbershop, Sarah fell in love with the genre and the Chorus immediately and is thrilled to be singing and performing once again. Sarah is a legal assistant at a law firm by day, so her organizational skills and professionalism come in very handy in her Belles Board position.

Our Vice President

Meet Mary Buler. Mary has found her home in barbershop.  She has always loved to sing. Growing up with three brothers, all close in age, she really enjoys her Mondays with her sisters the Liberty Belles! She admits:

"My younger sister wasn't born until I was 10 and by then, I had had enough! All kidding aside, I never felt confident singing until I joined the Belles!" Mary has been with the Belles for 5 years and has served as Secretary and President of our Board. She sings in the quartet, Girls Night Out!

LisaTprofile

Our Treasurer

Meet Lisa Traxler. Lisa was introduced to female barbershop harmony in 1990. She still enjoys learning the barbershop craft and grows with each new experience.

"There are many levels in barbershop singing that will keep you engaged and always striving to improve. I enjoy singing with the Liberty Belles because of the extraordinary leadership at the forefront."

nancyw1

Our Secretary

Meet Nancy Weisbein. Nancy grew up in a family of musicians and singers. She has sung all kinds of music from folk to opera but barbershop was brand new to her. She really loves learning so much about music and becoming a better singer every week with the Liberty Belles. Nancy is married to her husband, Perry. She works as an office manager and puts those skills to use on the Liberty Belles board.

Monica

Our Parlimentarian

Meet Monica Walsh. Monica's passion for harmony singing began at a young age.  Growing up as the youngest in a family of twelve, there were many opportunities to harmonize! Monica brings a background in vocal performance, having studied music in college and is a gracious resource and an encouraging mentor to those with less musical knowledge.

Director at Large

Meet Edye Cooperman. A trip to Montgomery Mall turned out to be a life changing experience for Edye. She was mesmerized and drawn to the sound of the North Pennsmen Barbershop Chorus performing, and it was there she found out about their "sister" group, The Liberty Belles Chorus. Edye sang all through school and loved playing guitar for anyone who would listen. She was proudly recruited by The Girls All State Chorus; still she was nervous trying out for this most amazing group. Thanks to her two daughters who remembered mom always singing to them while growing up and her husband who supports anything she believes in, she received the encouragement she needed to go for it. Edye also serves as the Chorus’ Fundraising Chair. She often is quoted as saying "I can’t believe I found this group of ladies I not only call my friends, but think of as sisters."

Director at Large

Meet Sarah Wilczynski. Sarah is a scientist by trade and a singer at heart. She works in Regulatory Affairs at a pharmaceutical company, and looks forward to drawing on her research and business skills to ensure that the Liberty Belles continue to grow and thrive.

From the days her parents danced her asleep to Billy Joel as a baby, to hearing Sarah Brightman sing Phantom of the Opera for the first time, to singing throughout all of her school years, Sarah has deeply appreciated the importance of music and singing in her life and the lives of those around her. She is both thrilled and humbled that she has the opportunity to pursue her passion with a family as wonderful as the Liberty Belles.
